Smart phones for the first time in history on supplies ahead
of regular phones, analysts IDC in its report for the first quarter of 2013.
In the reporting period, manufacturers shipped a total of
418.6 million mobile devices, which is 4% higher than a year ago. Of these, the
proportion of smartphones accounted for 51.6% or 261.2 million units. For
comparison, in the first quarter of 2012, shipments of mobile devices totaled
402.4 million units, of which smart phone is only 38% of the devices.
Leading supplier of mobile devices is the Samsung. The share
of the Korean producers have shipped 32.7% of all smartphones in the first
quarter and 27.5% of all shipped "regular" mobile phones. Apple
ranked second with a share of 17.3%. The five largest manufacturers also
included LG, Huawei and ZTE, which operate approximately equal: 4.8%, 4.6% and
4.2%, respectively.
Experts explain the primacy of Samsung, in particular, a
wide model range: in addition to "regular" phones and smartphones on
Android, the company offers machines on the platforms of Windows Phone and bada.
