iPad can stop an implanted defibrillator

Schoolgirl from United States argues that the built-in iPad 2 Smart Cover magnets can interfere with implanted defibrillators, devices that help the heart to work without interruption.
 
According to Bloomberg, 14-year-old Gianna Chien found that under certain conditions the magnets for a "smart" covers not allow medical device to perform its functions and start the heart if it stops.

According to Chien, if the person in whose body is cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), falls asleep with the second-generation iPad on the chest, on the plate magnets can block an electrical pulse.

"I want people to know about it. So I spent the investigation, "- said the American.

Gianna Chien noted that the iPad is built into the housing 30 of the magnets. They are not dangerous when the user is holding a gadget in his hands, however, can lead to death of patients with cardiac arrhythmias in case of sudden stop if would be tablet in the vicinity of the ICD.
 
Results of the study will be presented schoolgirls at a conference of the "Society of heart rate", which is attended by more than 8,000 physicians.

Apple did not comment on conclusion of an American.

  1. These are excellent information. It is really very important that when you have heart problems and you have defibrillators or pacemakers you should be cautious with the equipments or gadgets that you use. These ipad has magnets on its left side and on the right side front area of it. The magnets might interfere with your implants which is very dangerous. However, apple have seen this problem coming because it is written in there manual that it should not go near to someone’s chest if you have implants.
