Like other versions of OS X, OS X Mavericks comes in the
form of an image that wants to update already installed the operating system
you have, say, OS X Mountain Lion. Today we will learn to create a boot disk OS
X Mavericks in order to install a new one, but crude operating system, such as
on a separate partition or a countless number of Mac computers to find
vulnerabilities, testing programs, or simply to explore.
In general, to make a bootable disk is not difficult, but
with OS X Mavericks this process is somewhat different from the usual,
requiring some additional steps. In general, it is not very difficult, just
takes a little more time. So, let's begin.
First of all, make sure that the Mac, which you want to put
OS X Mavericks, meets the minimum system requirements . Secondly, you need to
actually own OS X Mavericks, 8GB (or larger) flash drive, that doesn't have
something necessary. That's all.
Create a boot disk OS X Mavericks:
- Download OS X Mavericks Developer Preview. This can be done either in the section on the website for developers Apple, or from here .
- Connect the USB flash drive to your Mac and run Disk Utility.
- Select the flash drive in the left menu, go to the tab "Disk partition" in the drop down menu "partition scheme" select "Section 1".
- Click the "Options ..." and select "partition scheme GUID», then Apply and OK.
- Now launch Terminal and type in the destination:
defaults write com.apple.Finder
AppleShowAllFiles TRUE; \ killall Finder; \ say Files Revealed
- Now go to Applications and look for the application install as well as 10.9 OS X-Developer-Previews program.
- Click the right button and choose "Show Package Contents".
- Go to Contents -> SharedSupport
- Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg
- Go to the mounted OS X Install ESD, right-click on «BaseSystem.dmg» and choose "Open". Default BaseSystem.dmg cryptic, so we introduced the command in the terminal.
- Go back to Disk Utility and select where BaseSystem.dmg and click on the tab "Lost."
- Check what in the "source" was «BaseSystem.dmg», and in the "Assignment" drag your USB flash drive. If it worked, then click on "Restore".
- When the process is finished, go to the Finder, go to the stick, then to System -> Installation and delete the label there called «Packages». Do not close this window!
- Go to the OS X Install ESD and copy out the Packages folder in the place where the last step, we removed the label (/ System / Installation /). The folder is large, so just give it a little time to copy.
- When the copying is finished, your flash drive installation is complete!
How to boot from it, I hope you remember? If not, then just
restart the Mac and booting, press Option. By the way, if you get up to try to
press the Option boot iMac on his wireless keyboard, then you will not work. If
you want to boot from another drive on the iMac, then you have to go to
Settings -> Startup Disk and select your USB flash drive there, and then
click "Reset ...".
Well, that seems to be all. Try, test and fun.
