Asus has officially unveiled the first screen supporting a
resolution of 4K. The device has a screen with a diagonal of 31.5 inches, but
it has a resolution 3840h2160 pixels. Monitor Asus PQ321 uses proprietary
technology Sharp IGZO (16:9, 140 ppi), which allows you to produce high-quality
displays with low power consumption.
Asus claims that at the moment PQ321 - it is the thinnest
4K-monitor in the world - a thickness of 35 mm. The device has a port
DisplayPort connector and two HDMI support function "picture in
picture", as well as built-in stereo speakers (2 x 2W) and a balancing
stand. It can also be hung on the wall (there is a mount VESA ).
Note that today is not so much video graphics cards that can
work with a resolution of 4K. Recently, the company Nvidia and AMD presented
the family of GPU GeForce 600 and Radeon HD 6000, which in theory are capable
of processing 4K-video. These cards also support HDMI 1.4 ports, and
DisplayPort 1.2 for bandwidth and working with 4K.
The message Asus says nothing about the value of 4K-screen,
but the Sharp has recently presented a 32-inch 4K IGZO displays that are worth
a record $ 5,500.
The price of the model Asus, probably will announce during
Computex 2013 next week.
