Apple iPhone track will teach the user's eye

Patent and Trademark United States issued a patent on the technology Apple gaze tracking by smartphone and tablet. Described in document function is based on the accelerometer and the front camera of the mobile device.

According to the description of the patent, entitled «Electronic Devices With Gaze Detection Capabilities», built-in iPhone accelerometer is used to determine the stationary state of the gadget, as can happen when web surfing or reading. The camera then analyzes the user's line of sight. If a person is constantly looking at the screen, the latter continues to be active. When the user looks away or hide smartphone power saving mode is activated and the display backlight is turned off after a few seconds. Thus the iPhone and the iPad will be able to further reduce power consumption.

A similar feature called Smart Stay already implemented in smart phones Samsung. It keeps track of the user's eye and supports the display active state without requiring direct interaction with them.

In September 2008, Apple has filed a patent application, which included, in particular, and this technology. New request of 25 January 2013 is intended to make the development of tracking gaze in a separate patent.

It is expected that the tracking is looking for the iPhone and iPad makes its debut in the new version of iOS 7.
