Apple is testing voice dictation offline for iOS

Currently the voice dictation on iOS is based on the load in the cloud for text conversion, so an internet connection is necessary that as we all know, can sometimes return errors, loading times and according to some, unauthorized use of their data.

According to some lines of code present for the first time in iOS7 beta , future versions of the operating system may introduce the conversion and processing of speech offline. The functionality is obviously not active in builds public, but according to some rumors it would be in the form of testing in some internal devices of Apple, could then be evaluated for future use if the network conditions do not permit the use of the function based on the cloud. The upcoming release of OS X Maverick enable the functionality of dictations offline by downloading a data packet of a few hundred megabytes, so something like this could also be done in iOS in the near future.

There is presently no proof to support this theory, however the implementation of this technology might improve the responsiveness of Siri and battery power, if we consider how the speech recognition process online is expensive in terms of energy.
