States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Apple
patent on pen-computer, which can act as a cell phone with the ability to send
and receive text messages, Mailers, and even make calls.
Apple engineers idea is to create a "smart"
electronic pen with enhanced functionality. Device equipped with a small LCD
screen, microphone, accelerometer and speaker. In addition, the patent mentions
modules GPS satellite navigation and mobile communications. A built-in battery.
As planned by Apple, pen computer can recognize handwriting,
perform conversion of speech into text and vice versa. The user can view the
screen SMS-messages, read e-mail and other information.
Thus, the gadget will partly replace the conventional mobile
phone, electronic notebook and GPS-navigator. It is possible that such a device
will act as a companion to the tablet or smartphone.
On the timing of the appearance of pen-based smartphone on
the market are not reported.
