Dong-hoon Chang VP Samsung confirms an important announcement for the upcoming MWC 2014

There is no longer any doubt, during the course of February Mobile World Congress 2014, or at the same time, however, we will have the first concrete information on the next terminal tip of the Korean manufacturer ready for this first part of the year. The confirmation came from Dong-hoon Chang VP Samsung , remembering how Samsung Galaxy S5 will be built with a completely new material and which are still in progress all the developments necessary to evaluate the use of a flexible display or not.
Aluminium-Body-Samsung-Galaxy-S5-2014-001

The hypothesis, however, lead to a presentation out of the MWC 2014 but temporally close with two variants of the next top range, a part certainly the Galaxy S5 and the other a premium version of the same so far as known Galaxy F which may not only take a aluminum body but also have different characteristics with respect to the new model of the Galaxy family.

Regarding the announcement at the Mobile World Congress, it is possible that the Korean organize a parallel event for the exclusive reserve through a separate location or at different times in other cities but shortly after the end of MWC 2014.

Project Ara - The Building Block Smartphone

Dave Hakkens was the brilliant mind behind what many are calling ‘the lego phone’. Dave came up with the idea when a single component in his favourite camera was damaged and he was advised that it would be cheaper and easier to just buy a new camera than it would be to buy the single component and replace it. He wanted to create a device where this would no longer be the case, where buying and replacing damaged or less desirable components became so easy that your grandmother could do it.
Project Ara - The Building Block Smartphone

The concept was called Phonebloks. When Dave first announced the idea he set up a website, a prototype and a plan – he wanted to find 500 supporters of the idea, but by the 29th of October had more than 381,000,000 supporters. The project was of course seen as valuable with so many people willing to get behind it, now it is no surprise that Motorola, one of the Google owned mobile phone production companies, has taken up the project with the full intention of producing the modular phone, which will be called Ara.

So – how come Motorola can just take this fantastic idea and make a phone? There are a surprising number of people looking at the Project Ara news and thinking ‘that looks just like phonebloks’; that would be because it is. Ara is not a similar idea, it’s the same idea, using the same concept, plans and designer. Yes; Phonbloks’ Dave Hakkens has teamed up with Motorola to product this fantastic device, with one simple goal in mind – to make a phone that will last a lifetime. There are many people who would consider this impossible, but the amazing fact of the matter is that technology is now ready to produce this and Dave Hakkens has made it possible with his simple but revolutionary idea.

The problem with technology at current is that it becomes outdated; new versions are released and when something more suitable for you comes along or your needs increase your old device just doesn’t hack it any more. Five years ago the phone you had was probably one you had owned for three years, at least, it may have been repaired a few times, some bigger memory cards and a new battery perhaps but it had been the singular device on which you had relied for quite some time. Today things are a little different; the average phone lasts 10 months before being replaced. Either because it was damaged (and replacing it was just easier than repairing it) or because something better came along.

With the Ara this wouldn’t be considered as great a problem; first of all Motorola would not be producing the phone itself, but rather the components for it. Cameras, batteries, clocks, storage, connectivity units; everything would be available separately and in multiple variations (such as bigger or smaller units to suit your individual needs). You build the phone yourself to include everything that you want it to and exclude the components that don’t matter to you, you select the components to be the size and capacity you need them to be and you worry only about the factors that actually matter to you individually. Each part, including the screen might I add, can be removed, upgraded and replaced later as new components are released and the technology itself improves, while you maintain the same device and other components.

Essentially this is evolutionary technology; you help it to evolve and change to meet your own needs and in turn the device will grow and adapt while still being the same device. The mass production of individual parts means that finding and purchasing a replacement part need never be a difficult or hugely costly task and is demonstrated as being very simple. Personally, after the disappointments that have come from some of the recent iOS updates, I am looking forward to seeing this highly flexible and adaptable smartphone, which is likely to be seen running Android when it is released though this has not been directly confirmed it has been said that the phone will “do for hardware what the Android platform has done for software”.

Microsoft Office 365 will land on iOS iPad only after the touch version for Windows 8

We have seen how a few months ago, precisely in June, Microsoft has released in the App Store a very limited version of Office 365 for the iPhone, but nothing optimized for iPad has been seen until now. During an event in Florida, Gartner, Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer said that a specific version for the Apple tablet is currently in the works.
Online Office on iOS iPad after Windows 8

Going down into the specifics of what was said, Ballmer has warned that his company will not release an iPad version before finishing the suite Office for Windows 8 Touch .

It is basically reiterated what was said by the head of the team applications and services, Qi Lu, long ago, namely that the touch versions of the Office suite are under construction, for both Windows and for all major platforms touch.

If the approach had to be maintained with the iPhone version, Office 365 will not be a true and complete productivity suite, as a companion to combine the use of the master suite on the PC, resulting in line with Microsoft's approach in theme applications when it comes to competing devices, just remember Outlook app, where the version of the client for iOS leaves much to be desired resulting incomplete at best and usable only in the presence of subscription to Office 365.

HTC One max: new photos and illustrations stolen fingerprint scanner | New Rumor

" Rain "leak for HTC One max , closer and closer to the official presentation. Past the new alleged list of technical features, additional content related to super smartphone come from HTC. First was issued a new picture "stolen" that would portray the terminal used by a girl on board a means of transport.

Fake or reality? We leave the final word to our readers, after having vision:
HTC One Max New Rumor-001

More interesting images are then those that illustrate the fingerprint scanner,  which will be positioned, according to the numerous rumor concerning him, in the rear of the shell. The image that arouses most interest is the one that follows, considering that seems to suggest the possibility of activating different functions depending on the finger used:
HTC One Max New Rumor-002

One could assume, for example, that functions as unlocking the device, authentication (such as password replacement tool insertion) and the launch of applications can be assigned to each finger. Speculation, for the moment, waiting for the curtain to raise permanently on HTC One max. Following further illustrative images that relate to the fingerprint scanner:

Scanner of HTC One Max New Rumor-003

The intensification of rumors about HTC One Max is certainly a good thing, considering that is helping to change the focus on HTC products at a particularly difficult for the Taiwanese company. HTC One max is undoubtedly one of the terminals that it takes to give a new boost to sales of HTC in the year. The official launch is expected next week.

In South Korea South's first skyscraper “unseen”

The South Korean government has given the final go-ahead for the construction of the imposing skyscraper invisible to the work of The Korean Land and Housing Corporation. Curious technology that characterizes this structure, high 450m at the time of its completion and able to create special visual effects that 'lurk' from the skyline of Seoul. The thing becomes more interesting when it turns out that this Infinity Tower will be built not far from Incheon International Airport, the largest in the Asian metropolis, not a stroke of genius if this alleged invisibility that was so effective.

South-Korea-unseen-Skyscraper-002

The creator Rather, the GDS Architects, however explained that the game of LED lights and cameras are able to partially conceal the imposing structure reproducing the surrounding environment, a camouflage in the middle of town that we are really curious to see at least on video. Moreover, the camouflage will be visible only to the specific points, nothing to worry about for airplanes and passengers. The house contractor said that by next year the structure is complete, the host platform for observations of the largest in the world (built on a skyscraper), cinemas, theaters, restaurants, roller coasters and even a water park. It will be the sixth tallest building in the world, provided those, in this time frame do not reach other pharaonic projects of this kind.

August 11 foreign media news reported, along with every new smart phone, computer and chip launch, we are from the future life is getting closer. Ubiquitous high-speed wireless network? With LTE technology, has been far from that goal. Automatic driving a car? Google is developing. Automatically synchronize with your smartphone device? Say not that Nest?

Here are 14 models that we think will lead humanity into the future of products:

1.Kinect

Kinect for Xbox sales potential quickly became the best Xbox 360 devices. It is not without reason. Since then, people bid farewell to handle playing electronic games with the times. Like Microsoft's advertising slogan said, the world is up to you to control (you are the controller). Now not only support Kinect gesture input, also supports voice input.

Innovation: Kinect is just the beginning. Imagine your TV or game consoles are applied like the Kinect technology, home entertainment will be other immersive. Remote control device era gone. Like "Back to the Future II" a line, "You mean you have to hand? Too juvenile it."

2 Walkman

Walkman is a first mainstream electronic devices. 1979 (or 1980) after the release, people used to go, music and where, even in the movement is no exception.

Samsung gives life to the 3D vertical NAND Flash memories

The storage space is one of the major limitations of mobile devices, often equipped with microSD slot to expand storage further and go against the growing needs of the industry. It is not about having more space in order to install a myriad of applications, the multimedia sector and the playful are among the most active and complex games require several megabytes, sometimes gigabytes, not to mention movies and photos taken at increasing resolution.
Samsung-3d-vertical-nand-Flash-Ram-004

Samsung-3d-vertical-nand-Flash-Ram-005

The turning point today that Samsung could therefore pave the way for a new generation of devices, able to integrate the brand new 3D memories vertical NAND Flash 128GB that the Korean company has recently started to produce in large volumes. The NAND Flash manufacturing planar are used to smartphones, tablets, and SSDs, but with the new vertical architecture can provide a much higher storage capacity.

LG will begin mass production of OLED panels for TVs in 2014

The technology OLED is almost certainly the future, for the TV market, but it is not yet present: because of the considerable production difficulties, in fact, mainly due to the high number of rejects during the production, it is virtually impossible, for all producers , ensuring consistent volumes, essential for mass production. A change to this situation could be the first LG , which announced the ' start of mass production in the second half of 2014 .
LG-OLED-Panels-TVs-2014-003

To make possible the attainment of this objective will be the opening of a new production line, defined eighth generation. With it will be produced panels over 50 ", with a capacity of 26,000 panels per month. LG Display (the branch that deals with the production of panels) will invest in this new facility, 650 million dollars , with the hope of obtaining , as claimed by analysts iSuppli, approximately 75,000 OLED TV year, a number certainly not yet high, but sufficient to considerably reduce the current prices, very high also because of the very few units produced.

PWRGlass: an inspiration to triple the battery of Google Glass

Really interesting idea developed by  www.pwrglass.com  that has created a practical and comfortable strap for glasses that can extend the battery of Google Glass 3-fold thanks to a 2000mAh battery integrated in the holder. Found a very simple and pleasing design that could be easily implemented and that is a candidate as one of the most successful concept of realistic accessory to date.
pwrglass-idea-of-triple-power-battery-002

Waiting to see the Google Glass marketed in their final form, we can only hope for similar accessories becoming increasingly popular and with the ability to expand not only the battery but also maybe the memory as suggested by the same pwrglass.

GOOGLE has officially Project Loon, access to the internet via balloons

Today Google has officially Project Loon, experimental technology to access the internet through the balloons .

A project of the reach and the revolutionary potential: the idea of an O-ring balloons , flying around the world taking advantage of the stratospheric winds, are able to provide reliable access to the internet and convenient in rural, remote and underserved of the Earth, or be of assistance after natural disasters that have hit the communications infrastructure.

There are many factors that the surface of the earth constitute an obstacle to the internet in addition to that cost. Today, for example, in the majority of countries in the Southern Hemisphere the cost of a connection to the internet is higher than a person gains in a month. So today Google has access to the internet via balloons.

We think it is actually possible to build a ring of balloons flying around the globe taking advantage of the stratospheric winds and provide internet access to the territories below. We're really just getting started, but we have built a system that uses balloons blown by the wind to a height twice that used by commercial aircraft, to provide internet access to the ground at a speed similar to that of existing 3G networks, or even faster.
So we hope that the balloons can become an option for connecting rural areas, remote or under-served areas and to help make communications possible in the event of natural disasters. The idea may seem a bit 'crazy - this is one of the reasons we called the project Loon  - but the scientific foundations are solid.
The balloons, with their natural elegance, present some challenges. Many projects have examined the possibility of using high altitude platforms to provide internet access in the fixed areas of the ground, but try to stay still in one place requires a very expensive and complex. For this reason, the idea that we have pursued plans to leave the balloons to float in the winds. All we had to do was figure out how to control their movement in the sky. Now we have found a way to accomplish this, using only the wind and solar energy: we can move the balls up and down to take the wind currents in which we want traveling. This solution led us to a new problem: how to manage a fleet of balloons that sail around the world so that each ball is in the area where we want sail right time. We are solving this problem with some complex algorithms and a lot of computing power.
At this point we need a little 'help: This experiment will require much more than just our team. This week we launched a pilot project in the Canterbury region in New Zealand with 50 'experimenters' who will try to connect to our balloons. This is the first time that we have launched so many balls (in fact, 30 this week) and we are trying to connect so many receivers on the ground, we will learn much to improve our technology and the design of our balloons.
In the future we would like to create pilot projects in other countries that are at the same latitude of New Zealand.

We also want to find partners for the next phase of our project, we look forward to receiving feedback and ideas from people who have been working for well longer than we have on the immense problem of providing Internet access in rural and remote areas . Imagine that one day you can use your mobile phone with your service provider to connect the balloons and have the connection in areas where there's just today.

This technology is still at a highly experimental and there is still a long way to go but it is certainly interesting and promising. We can monitor the progress of Project Loon following the Google+ page .

Comes from China's new Super-Computer World's most powerful

It's called Tianhe-2 the new Super-Computer assembled in China may soon climb the famous list of the Top 500 , finishing in first place directly with large margin on the second. Tianhe-2, which it did talk about last year when he was still in the planning stage, will be 40 times faster than its predecessor (Tianhe-1) and, according to initial estimates, 74% faster than current Titan (obviously made in the USA) and that uses Nvidia Tesla K20x.

The Chinese obviously are struggling to the first place and this does not surprise us that much 3 of the top 4 positions are just occupied by the United States.

For the occasion, the Asian engineers have opted for a cluster of Ivy Bridge and Intel Xeon-Phi, but which numbers? The Titan weblog U.S. is currently in the lead with a peak of 17.6 petaflops, but Tianhe-2 is expected to be a well- 30.65 petaflops , in short, an unprecedented power!

The current standings of the Top 500 will be released next week, we'll see if Tianhe-2 will be included in ranking or postponed until the next revision (November), although now it is just time.

NASA releases image of 160 megapixel nearest galaxy

NASA has created image as many as 160 megapixels , portraying the galaxy closest to us , the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC International denoted by the acronym). To obtain this huge image, a sort of "landscape" space, have been joined thousands of images, captured by the Swift telescope ( optical / ultraviolet) and composed together by astronomers at NASA and Pennsylvania State University. It is the image with the highest resolution available for LFC, a job that required increasing spotlight of 5.4 days.

The images were captured with Swift thanks to the ability to show the UV wavelengths, which allow astronomers to suppress the light emitted by the stars, providing clearer images of star formation.

Together with the image of CML NASA has also released one of the Small Magellanic Cloud  (SMC), with a lower resolution, but still considerable, or 55 megapixels . This galaxy is the second closest to the Earth , with its distance of 200,000 light-years ( LMC it is 163,000 ). SMC is about half the size of CML, and contains nearly two-thirds of its mass, making it a rather small galaxy.

The photo of CML, a 457MB TIFF files, you can download at this address , which can also be found at the image of SMC and others.

Smartphones with Intel Merrifield are all set to launch in 2014

In a recent conference, Intel flaunted its latest smartphone design at Computex in Taiwan as the chipmaker is all set to make grounds in the mobile phone market in 2014. The executive vice-president of Intel, Tom Kilroy revealed that a smartphone that will run the Merrifield processor has been given the codename to the forthcoming 22nm Atom syetem-on-chip (SoCs). The Vice President has claimed that this particular Merrifield chip will deliver twice the performance of the predecessor and the devices will officially be launched in 2014 at Mobile World Congress.

As the smartphones are infamous for their only fault, their diminishing battery life, the Vice President, Tom Kilroy has claimed that the Merrifield chip will be able to offer improved battery performance although he didn’t agree to go into the specifications of the phone. In the meanwhile, he also confirmed that the tablets that were confirmed by Bay Trail processors will later on enter the market in 2013. All these tablets will be available in varieties of quad-core and will provide you with performance that is double to that of the previous generation tablets. The tablets will also support resolutions up to 2560*1440 as explained by Tom Kilroy.

The tablets that will use the Bay Trail processors will offer up to 8 hours of battery life and will also support both Android and Windows platform, as per what Intel has claimed. All the next generation devices that will use Bay Trail and Merrifield will be expected to support the 4G connectivity and this can easily be done by incorporating Intel XMM 7160 modem within those devices. Currently, there is no timeframe for when Intel’s chip will be able to support 4G functionality that is built into the chips but this shouldn’t pose too much as an issue as the 7160 modem is pretty small to be used in the smartphones.

The launch of the Intel Atom chips marks a huge milestone for Intel as it goes as a competition with ARM licensees such as Qualcomm. You can wait for buying such smartphones with Intel processor to experience the fun of technology.

Memory DDR4: InnoDisk releases the first sample RDIMM for Server Systems

Despite the new Intel Haswell still provides the use of a controller and RAM modules DDR3, DDR4 technology is now ready and will begin to reach the market by starting as usual from the segment Server before joining then on the consumer.

In this regard InnoDisk announced that it has prepared the first sample of DDR4 RDIMM modules, the result of 8 years of development. As it has done in the past (see transition from DDR2 to DDR3), the new generation of memory will lead to an improvement over the performance optimization of consumption as well as the heat produced, to be reckoned with when it's all about Server Systems with numerous DIMM slots.

With a transfer rate of up to 3.2 Gbps (value that will no doubt greatly exceeded), the DDR4 will have a base frequency of 2133 MHz and a voltage of only 1.2 volts (this according JEDEC standard), while for concerns the density it comes to modules 64 and 128 GB . Currently, the company did not mention price even though we know that the initial costs will be high, especially considering the target segment and the type of memory (RDIMM).
